Here’s what you need to keep in mind for a flawless bathroom look. Practical and stylish tips to renovate your bathroom – whether you’re going for a complete overhaul or a budget-friendly refresh.
#1 Waterproofing
Your bathroom’s waterproofing should be absolutely perfect because everything in the bathroom revolves around water.
If even a small amount of water seeps through from anywhere, it will start climbing up the walls and ruin all the work.
Ensure proper waterproofing to avoid leaks and water damage. Any misstep here will result in water seeping into walls, causing long-term damage.

#2 Plumbing
Opt for high-quality PVC or CPVC pipes over iron/metal pipes to ensure durability and avoid rust & corrosion. All pipe joints must be properly sealed using Teflon tape or pipe sealant. Avoid loose fittings that may result in seepage or leakage later.
Plan the plumbing layout before tiling or construction begins. Keep valves easily accessible for maintenance in concealed piping. Take photographs of concealed pipes layout for future reference.
Before closing the floor or wall, do a pressure/leak test to check for any leakage in pipes. Leave water in the pipeline for few hours to ensure there’s no seepage.

#3 Floor & Walls
Always use plastic spacers for consistent joint width. This ensures uniformity and avoids uneven grout lines.
After tile laying, clean the joints thoroughly to remove dust, adhesive or debris before applying grout. Especially for bathroom floors and shower areas use epoxy grout as its stain resistant, waterproof and long-lasting compared to cement based grout.
Properly seal all tile joints to ensure no leakage down the line. Small gaps now can lead to big issues later.
#4 Floor Leveling
Water should flow naturally towards the drain and not stagnate near the WC or entry. Divide the bathroom into dry zone and wet zone. Wet area should be slightly lower or more sloped.
Accurate floor leveling is crucial to ensure proper water drainage. A well-leveled floor ensures water flows away easily, leaving your bathroom dry and functional.
